Music Recommendations for the Isolated Part 2: Workout Songs
As I stated in yesterday’s post, I like to use music to manipulate my mood and have my current mindset last longer. This is especially important when working out since it’s hard for me to remain with a workout until the end. Taking long pauses in the middle of a workout ruins momentum and my ability to have an efficient workout within an hour. So I have crafted three separate playlists that all are used for various workouts.
I have chosen to highlight 10 songs from each of my workout playlists. Links are also included down below so you can hear the full playlists exclusively on Apple Music (sorry Spotify and Pandora fans, this is where I have to disappoint you).

I always start my workout with this playlist just to get into the right mindset. This is great for getting on the stair climber or assault bike and doing a warm-up. After two or three songs, I’m always ready to start weightlifting or my cardio session. These songs will have hard-hitting bass, fast rapping, and epic drops that will force your heart to kick it into gear.
Let’s Go (feat. Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes & Lil’ Jon) - Travis Barker
Call Ticketron - Run The Jewels
Popular Monster - Falling In Reverse

I’ve always found it difficult to find a good cardio playlist from someone else - I guess what I’m looking for isn’t the norm. I don’t like doing cardio. Spending up to a half-hour on the treadmill or row machine is a grueling process for me so I need music that helps me to keep going even after my muscles are burning and I want to quit early. These songs are all fast and fun to sweat to. When my brain is telling me to stop & rest, I can rap/sing along and find my second (or third) wind.
B.O.B. - Outkast
Bleed It Out - Linkin Park
Can’t Hold Us (feat. Ray Dalton) - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
F*** Yeah - Scissor Sisters
Get Fresh - Kid Sister
Happy (feat. Derek Martin) - C2C
How Low - Ludacris
List of Demands (Reparations) - Saul Williams
Paranoid (Ft. Mr. Hudson) - Kanye West
Shake (feat. Pitbull) - Ying Yang Twins (edited version)

My weightlifting playlist is really designed to keep my mind engaged in the workout. There are fast songs from the Pump Me Up playlist, hard-hitting rock songs to help fight through the last painful reps, trap songs to get lost in while resting, and even some slower songs that have encouraging lyrics to keep me focused on my workout goals.
